Post multiple categories
is there a way to have multiple categories for an item? am i missing something or isn't that like a basic functionality of a shopping cart system? the only way i can figure to do mult categories for one item is to use user fields or duplicate the item for each category which makes it a PITA to edit the item later.

Using user fields would allow you to use multiple categories, but you would need to call the user field in a hard coded URL.

Multiple categories is not a basic function of a cart system.

Post It is an issue to duplicate
Many of my products fit in to more than one category and it's not an issue to duplicate:

Either use the Database import/export facility - brilliant tool - and edit, copy, paste whatever.

OR

set the product up, edit the product, change the product ID (to a new one), change the category and save it.

If it is just a category change, all other data the same, it's simple surely?

That's how I would do it too. You can sort it by product name to group them all together and make mass changes. I import the file to Excel when I use the export facility.
