Is it possible to link to the product page from the store main page?
Eg. I have one product which I wanted to promote as offer item. Once I click on that product image, I will like to be lead to the product description page (productPage-search2.inc)
Can anyone advise me whether this can be done?

Sure... you have to hardcode it though...
The link would look something like:
"agora.cgi?p_id=00001&ppinc=search2"
