there are ways to search information in userfields without having to dedicate a userfield to any one (singular) purpose.
consider this site:
http://www.hgltd1.com/
the links on the left are the categories with products normally entered in the dB. the links like gold, silver, diamond and the like are these same products that are tagged with those keywords in a userfield. some products have maybe 5 or 6 keywords in a single userfield. when linked to properly only the desired keyword will display the product regardless of the number of keywords in the userfield.
in some instances userfields can be multifunctional so don't squander your precious userfields by dedicating to one function if it can be avoided.

You just put your keywords in the user field and call the user field in your search form...
So instead of:
Code:
<input type="text" name="keywords" size="10" maxlength="40">

You might have:
Code:
<input type="hidden" name="user2" value="men">

BTW, when placing a link to your store in your posts, please include a warning that the content/materials on your site are "adult" in nature...
I don't need my children seeing that stuff as I am trying to help you... I don't like having to scramble to close the window because someone didn't warn me about the content of their site...

HTH!

suppose you want to list new products. pick a userfield (user3 for example) to dedicate for linking then add "new" without the quotes. add "new" to every userfield3 for every product you want to list as a category. suppose you're using user3. so in user3 add new to say, 4 products. now compose your link like so...
<a href="http://www.slinkysals.co.uk/store5/agora.cgi?user3=new
all four products should display just ad if you had a "new" category.

thanks.......that would do it.....BUT...

What if i wanted to put in multiple words in 'user3' eg...... HER HIM GIFT OR BESTSELLER

An item could be a bestseller, but would also be a product for him or her.....would it still find the relevant keyword in user3 box? or would i need some code to split the field etc first??

thanks.
