Post Product pages 
When I have two product categories, should each category have its own productPage? I had soap and salts in their own categories, but people were not able to order both types of product. The cart didn't add the categories together, just would process one or the other.

then something is wrong. custom ppinc, headers and footers should not have an effect on anything other than display unless you have special coding for any of the categories on thier custom ppinc.
check the settings in the main core settings screen in the store manager.
