howdy all AgoraNauts,
I've been doing a lot of thinking and planning for the upcoming and
newest version of AgoraCart. Included in this has been the
infrastructure of the AgoraCart network and websites. So, I've decided
to set this on "paper" so ya'all can see what the tentative plans and
changes are fer the next couple of months. this may end up being a long
list, but here it goes.
1) I wish to overhaul the website at agoracart.com, so I am offfering
all designers a chance of winning some exposure by designing an
agoracart.com site. The winning design must have dark green, but not
too much... as to fit the logo (or an updated one inthe future). LInks
must be text in nature and I prefer the rollover technique that already
exists. graphics can be used through out, but room must be left for
dynamic banners at the top or over the top (or sumtin close to the top).
must be fast loading with low overhead size wise (graphics included).
can use flash, but sparingly... this site gets a lot of hits. links
and locations will change, so it needs to be flexible to add more links.
links can be grouped into main areas on following subpages as needed
(not all links need to be on main homepage as currently done, but a few
main category choices are in order). Must be able to make headers and
footers (with a side menu bar) from it fer things like the forums and
other pages/programs. All Copyrights transfer to K-Factor Technologies,
Inc, but design credits and links will be available in small type on key
pages (like homepage). if you have questions or wish to submit an
entry, let me know directly off forum. You can do as many entries as
you like :)
2) I will list key folks involved. this will include lists like:
founders club (financial donors to the project), team members - which
will be moderators and developers (along with donation links to donate
to each one individually if they help ya or ya like their
contributions), and personnel. These folks usually hand over copyrights
and the code for the benefit of the project, so they will be
acknowledged as important folks. If you wish to be a forum moderator or
a developer, please contact me directly off forum, and only requirements
are active participation and releasing copyrights to us by default on
any work you do fer the project (some developers will or might be paid
regular monthly stipends and/or salaries as well... but not sure yet as
cash flow is very limited at this time).
3) enhanced file sharing. Pro members will benefit more from this.
however some freebie file sharing will available for graphics, buttons,
etc. Some key supporters will also be able to release freebie hacks
through this mechanism on the free side. Pro members will be less
regulated.
4) speed up releases and updates. the implimentation of additional core
developers will aid in this .. assuming participation. Please contact
me fer this aspect of involvement.
5) new version ... tentatively named 4.1 ... will be released this
summer. too many desired changes to list fer now.
6) copyrights and trademarks will be enforced (and listed as well)
7) rewards, benefits, voting rights setup and expanded for those pro
members that buy additional licenses of pro members only files.
8) ASP program updated and setup.
9) work boards to list what we are workin on and what the progress is
(as applicable) so that developers and development can be coordinated.
Might be available only to core folks though, but not sure at this time.
My whole thinking here is to update the cart and ease of use,
enhancements fer easier file sharing, speed up development (with
community help as well), promotion of legal and appropriate community
channels, and promotion of sites/folks using the cart system. However,
I need help, so if you want to get involved, now is the time to speak up :)
finally, just a big ol thanks to those that do help out ... fer yer time
and efforts :)
