Using 0 weight items in Version 5

Post Using 0 weight items in Version 5 
Hi All,
I have been using the method shown in the sticky above for using 0 weight items to ship free in v4. I noticed Bonnie says that is not the method to use in v5. Now that I have upgraded to V5 how do I implement the same thing?

Tom,
If you are using USPS, you cannot use the zero weight... The USPS API doesn't like it and will kick back an error. If using any other shipping method, it can be used.

I have written some custom logic to handle the USPS shipping.

How would I implement the 0 weight option for UPS?

How did you write the logic for USPS?

UPS should be able to handle zero weights...

Bonnie, I have instaled the following:

In "Allow shipments via which services?" USPS = no

Is this the "best" way? NO! I would prefer to offer real-time quotes for USPS,
but it would work for now, IF I can get the UPS SBW working.

You do realize that to apply those amounts in your logic to USPS Priority Mail shipments, that you must have "USPS Priority Mail" at the beginning of EACH of those lines of logic???

Just out of curiosity, have you tried running your logic "after" and setting USPS = YES?

I did NOT realize that each line must have "USPS Priority Mail" at the front. It works for the different weights, meaning if I ship a 3 lb package it retuns $12.95. I have run it "before" and "after" but NOT wiht USPS enabled. Right now I have it set to "Before" and a UPS 0 or 1 lb returns with the UPS charge & the USPS charge. If run "after" it returns as JUST the USPS charge. Of course if I enter 2 lbs in UPS the cart hangs.
