 How to give main content box a static (set) width?
I don't want my main content box to resize with window resize... I want it to be around 600px.
I have a template that I'm trying to implement into the cart, but to do this, I need to be able to define the width of the Header, Left Nav, Center Content, and right Cart Info.
My second question is... how would I go about making the main content scroll and the rest stay in a fixed position. My template uses an IFRAME... can I place the contents of the main content in an IFRAME?
The width thing is a huge issue for me... any info would be greatly appreciated. I searched for an answer and could find nothing. I'm sorry if this is already posted somewhere.
My store url is (temporarily) http://74.220.219.55/~vermont8/store52/agora.cgi
...and yes, I am aware that the url does not follow the 2 point rule (www.)
Could that be why I can't login to the manager? Everytime I click login it just clears the login form... or would that be an error while typing my password... i'm wondering if i just forgot it?
Regards

You should not be using the IP address in any of your URLs, manager or store....
Hacker kiddies like to see those IP addy's....
As for iframes, I'm not a big fan...
iframes can cause a problem with being able to maintain state...

yeah... im getting the domain transferred soon... but I need to setup the backend first.
Anyways...
I REALLY need some advice on setting a static width for the main content of the cart. Please point me in a good direction.. if there is any. I'm sure it's fairly simple though? Just unsure of the file/code to edit.

I'll take that and run with it if you don't feel like responding to this post... but could you be more specific?
Is it in the header CSS, footer CSS, header html, footer html.... any idea? I want the CENTER content where the products are listed (that auto resizes and fills the screen) to be a set width. THAT code is in a header or footer file? I would have assumed it would be in the index or a css associated with the index.

This is getting to be kinda a challenge because it doesn't seem like you are actually searching and researching the forum or the files in the cart... I'm just pointing you in the right direction, I'm not going to do the work for you... There is alearning curve with the cart if you want customization of design... This takes you doing a little digging....
You can start with your own design, you know....
Here's a post on working with headers and footers:
http://www.agoraguide.com/faq/viewtopic.php?t=1310
Start with the header and footer... the css may come in to play, but you'll be able to determine that once you start working with your headers & footers...

For anyone asking this same question... simply add
Code:width: 600px;
or whatever dimensions to the AgoraStyles.css file using the AgoraCart Manager -> Store CSS Design Editor
Worked like a charm... now I just need to find out how to center the whole thing... should be a piece of cake... probably in one of the table attributes in the header file.

Joshua,
It's not quite that simple... It has to added to a particular CSS class...

I was wondering if anyone was up to taking a look at this snippet of code...
My headslice.jpg is not rendering in Internet Explorer... just Firefox.
Code:<!--BEGIN HEADER TABLE-->
<table id="Table_01" width="800" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="1" class=template_mainbackground>
<tr>
<td height="73" colspan="3">
<!--<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="template_table_image_background"><tr><td width=390 height="73">-->
<table align="center" width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="mybgimage"><tr><td width=390 height="73">
<!--agorascript-pre
&capture_STDOUT;
if ($sc_self_serve_images =~ /yes/i) {
print qq~<img src="%%URLofImages%%../html-templates/templates/$sc_headerTemplateName/header.gif" height="73" alt="Agora Cart" width=390>~;
} else {
print qq~<img src="html/images/headslice.jpg" height="" alt="800-770-9533" width="">~;
}
&uncapture_STDOUT; -->
</td>
Any ideas?

IE is a very troublesome browser with CSS... and very unfortunate because it is one of the most widely used...
What's the URL to your store? Maybe there's some html that might be a little out of whack...

Should have waiting until I did a little more testing... I don't know why... unsure of the logic involved here,
but I had to remove the agorascript and simply insert
<img src tag
it worked?

the url is actually still my server's IP... I know it's insecure, but I gave it out once already here.. so twice can't hurt I suppose.

 Bonnie.. or Dan.. or anyone who has run into this before.. p
I've been working with the cart for weeks now.. just purchased gold membership (still haven't received any login info)... anyways, I've got a bunch of kinks worked out... I'm ready to start slicing up my images, adding some mouseover effects, linking, etc... but I still can't seem to find code to fix the width of the center content.
For example, I FINALLY got my homepage to be ALMOST perfect... I also set the width attribute in the table that controls the entire page. I've been able to resize a couple of pages by changing the sizes of embedded tables so the center area auto-resizes correctly...
BUT, I don't want it to auto-resize EVER. I want the center to be a set width so it never resizes and makes my header look horrible.
Here.. I'll take one page as an example.. http://74.220.219.55/~vermont8/store52/agora.cgi ... Step 1 of the Checkout is TOO WIDE. View it and you will understand.
Now... I pull up the source code and see that there are multiple css styles/classes being applied and multiple tables... tables within tables within tables. SO, I can change the size of the 'Special Notes' text box and delete part of "Please select where your order will be shipped and click 'Next'" and the page will resize accordingly... with a little fine tuning I can get the page to the correct size, BUT, I have this problem on EVERY page it seems like... some too small and some too large.
Do I need to go through every page and every <tr> to fix my problem, or is there a way to set the width of the center area... some <td> or <tr> or <table> or CSS Class this is all-inclusive?
Any ideas on this?

Joshua,
You productPage layout is not condusive to NOT having it resize...
You need to use a different ppinc to have a layout that would not resize.
The contents of a <td> tag will always push out any other with limitations if it has to ESPECIALLY with images... The image size is ALWAYS accomodated no matter what the width limitations on the containing <td>....
So, your answer is to adjust or choose a different ppinc file to use...

Ok, how about this though... if I specify the width of the pages to be 600px... I understand it can still resize to be LARGER... but why are some pages smaller?
I'm specifying the width in the wrong class or table apparently.
Which single style or table attribute must I change to accomplish this? It is obviously a table with a background color of #FFFFFF and with NO SET WIDTH... because it's auto resizing as small as 400px at times! (See search results for flaphats).

my current productpage.inc file... which used to be ppinc4a... has this code near the top
Code: $myans .= '<tr><td colspan="3"><table width="100%" border="1">'."\n";
So I can resize the table containing the product... but where is table that contains the Code:<tr><td colspan="3"> ?
THAT is the table I want to resize.

Take a look at the last lines in the store header file...
Also, check the CSS class: ac_cart_table

RAWR!
It finally works!!!!!!
You were right, thank you so much! At the bottom of the header html file (edited in store manager / Store header/footer file editor) there was this bit of code..
Code: <td valign="top" class="ac_ppinc_content">
<table width="" border="0" align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
<tr>
<td class="ac_content">
<!--END HEADER TABLE-->
I set that <table width="" ...> to 596px and it solved my problem of having some pages too narrow. Now all I have to do is change the layout and image/table cell sizes of a couple pages so those won't be too wide.
Thanks for all your patience bonnie!

bigdawg... yer a good feller ... I mean dawg. You didn't bite back when Bonnie got short with ya (at least not that I'm aware of). You passed the test in my book ... lol.
Keep in mind that the CSS implementation is not 100% done in the cart. You may have noticed this already with a few ticky things. It's mostly the legacy table stuff that has not all been replaced. One problem I have is tableless layouts are cool... but they reek of frustration as they are not reliable... even with all the elitist designers that look down their noses at those that will mix tables with xhtml to just get the darn thing to work. In 2005, I dropped the xhtml implementation as CSS was about as drastic as we could go without every beginner having massive problems with layouts in the cart (they usually do not want to learn 6 months of xhtml and CSS coding techniques to customize everything in the cart ... I wouldn't/didn't either).
Anyways, welcome to the community
