Post Go Daddy Hosting and Agora Cart
Hi, Tech support at GoDaddy says it does not think it will support Agora Cart. I don't want to change hosts as this would be difficult and costly. I have read a thread here that says you can use Agora Cart on GoDaddy but it is a pain. Can you please tell me which version of Agora Cart will work the best with GoDaddy? I'm not sure what to do. Thank you, Chris

Hi,

What is your idea of Difficult and Costly?

Most host providers I have found have been extremely reasonably priced and very easy to put agoracart on.

If a provider cannot support agoracart, I would be seriously wondering what applications they can support.
You will find a number of providers who offer hosting at $5 per month and who will easily get you started with agoracart, there are some providers on here for a start.
If the domain is yours you have the right to point it at which ever host you wish.

Agoracart can be an instant setup, but if you want more bespoke items on it, there is a slight learning curve and if you have the added problems of tweeking things in background just so that your hosts configuration can run it then it is probably going to cost you a lot more than finding a new host.

I do not know Go Daddy as a host, so I can not answer your question as to which agoracart is best to run on it. If you go for anything lower than v5 then you are loosing tons of functionality.

Someone will no doubt be posting to say which is best for GoDaddy, but they will probably say the same as me too.

Hope that helps some.
Glen.

godaddy should work with you on this. make another call to support and get somebody else on the line. by default their hosting packages are too tight but they know this and will work with you to get the program working correctly.
if you don't get satisfaction then call again and this time ask for someone who knows godaddy's commitment to it's customers and can do what you request.
if you still get the run around then pm me and i'll help you out.

I've set up Agora on GoDaddy, but, yes, they are a pain.
I would avoid them for running a shopping cart on...
That is my personal opinion, though...
It's not that bad to switch to a new host and might be better in the long run to have a host that works for you right out of the box, instead of having to pull your hair out because you get fr us tr ated with trying to set up the cart and you can't do it right because of the hosting...

JMHO..... for whatever it's worth...
Final decision is really up to you...

Post Go Daddy Hosting and Agora Cart
Thank you all for the tips.

Go Daddy does make it difficult to change away from their hosting account. Although their tech support is generally very good, their user interface is difficult to use and apparently it is not worth using with Agora Cart.

I will search for a different host. Thanks again.

Chris
