How do I sit up sub catagories

Yes, you can.
By default subcategories are given the user4 field for defining what subcategory a product belogs to in a given category.

The manager's Primary/core settings has some info on subcategories and the Product Add/Edit page, also, has info on subcategories...

Post guess I'm missing something again 
When I enter the Implement::New and Implement::Used it doesn't come out as a subcatagory/ It comes out as catagory. What is meant by user4 field? Where do I enter the info in order to get it to be a subcatagory? What I'm looking for is:

Implement
Used
New

What I'm getting is:

Implement::New
