Post problem iwth index.html page
Hello, My site (www.stuffwholesale.com) is not being ranked by most of the search engines. I have been told by the Google support area my index.html page which resides in the root and apparently directs to the cart directory /wholesale/agora.cgi and need to be set up differently. This is the Google
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Webmasters/thread?fid=3032548059c8e54100046fcd37b12eaf&hl=en
which has their remarks.
I have downloaded the index.html page in the html section and then uploaded to the root directory in my server. Now I have seem to lost all the header (i believe that is what it is) stuff which show how to get to the section in the cart.
I have removed the index.html that the Google group is referring to and replaced it with the index.html page of html section in agora cart, but have lost all the stuff.
So some code must be missing some how?
I would appreciated any help here I seem to have a real mess.

You need to copy and paste the html source code from the browser of agora's store home page.
Then, it needs to be edited to make sure all of the image & CSS file links are all pointing to the right places and have correct URL's for where they are pointing to in relation to where your index.html file is.
That way, you will make an exact copy of the store's home page.
However, every time you add a category, you will need to edit that index.html to reflect the changes inside the store.

Thanks but that seems like it is a lot of work as I change items and catagories frequently, is there another way Should I move the cart into the root directory public_html.
As now I have it in public_html/wholesale/
will this solve my problem.
Thanks
Ron

No...
The alternative is to create a portal page that leads a customer into the store.
The thing with search engines is to have content about your store and your products in that index.html page... It is the content that is used to rank your site.

Thanks, I understand what your talking about in content for the page. I wanted to keep the same look of the cart so people don't see two different looks. I will have to see what I can do on this.
Thank again for your advise and help.
Ron

You could still use the same look, using the same method I described.
But, change the main content of the page and perhaps minimize the category links to just the main ones, maybe just feature a few products, explain about your company, store, your offerings, etc.
It would have the same look as the store, just not as much.
More of a portal page with lots of content.

You've got the content, but you might want to work on making it so it looks closer to the store...
