Post database.csv file
Hello,
My question regards the database.csv file. We'll I will have only 20,000 products in my database. I did a trial run of 9,000 products and I noticed it was slower when I clicked the 'Add to Cart' button. Which makes since. I only had 1 category in this trial run. Would the checkout process be quicker if I had multiple categories? Also, is there a maximum number of products that I can sell?

Thanks,

you have 9000 products in one category? it would seem to me that search would be faster with categories.
technically the store dB is pipe delimited. if you edit in it's native form then there will be less chances for corruption. hope you're keeping backups prior to any changes whatsoever.
i think there would be no limit in theory. limits to server speed, timeout, server load, your editing program and how much hair you have left on your head would be some influences. you may want to look into multiple dBs. this will speed things up and make things more human user friendly.

dan
another option would be to join the lifetime group and prepare for the mysql version.

Post Multiple db's?
I didn't know I could use multiple db's? As of now I just have one db called database.csv. Which is in the 'data_files directory.

If I do use multiple db's...what would i need to change?

Also, where can I find more information on 'lifetime group and prepare for the mysql version.'

Thanks,

if you're going to be a lifer and intend on using the mysql dB then you probably wont need to do multiple dBs. you'll want to install the pro version of agoracart and convert the dB. this will still be a flat file dB but will set up stuff for esier integration to mysql. be sure you have a error free, current backup of your data.file.
headers and footers and most other stuff can be copied to the new version. admin files, some library files, some protected files, and of course agora.cgi should not be overwritten with non pro version files.
regards,
dan
