Post Changing Search to an AND search
My client has a product that has "1785-L60B/E" in the description if a client puts this in the search exactly that way the product shows up. If they remove the "-" then it doesn't. Can I make the search an and search that brings up all the closest matches. Or if someone types "1785-L60B/E" and "ABB" then items containing both will show up.

Thanks
Ervin

on your search page you have this...

<form method="POST" action="agora.cgi">

<div align="left">
<input type="hidden" name="cart_id" value="4146032.29305*b03A73">
<input type="text" name="keywords" size=20 maxlength=40>
<input type="hidden" name="ppinc" value="search">
<input type="hidden" name="exact_match" value="on">
<input type="submit" name="search_request_button" value=" Search ">
</div>
</form>

notice this line...

<input type="hidden" name="exact_match" value="on">

if you remove it then when the search commences it will return anything in the dB which partially matches the query. this can be good and not so good. with 5000 item in the dB it is possible to return every one of them. there are more complex search thingies possible but with 5000 items it would be a lot of work as each item would have it's own set of keywords which will have to be added.
regards,
dan
