Post I think I've found a serious error in my web site??
Hi all.
I think I've found a serious error in my web site??
http://www.combat-support.co.uk

I built the site and took a month off so now coming back to it and seeing a fault is a litle perplexing.

The problem is with the underscore _ character in the categories listing.

If I click on a category example Nanok my productPage-search4.inc loads and displays a listing of Nanok products. Then I click on Display link and my productPage-8.inc loads displaying the product detail.

However when I click on a split name example Tool_Logic split by the underscore _ I then get my productPage-search4.inc displaying listed products. I then click on the Display link and the response is "I'm sorry, no matches were found. Please try your search again" ??

Checking this further I found that by holding the mouse cursor over the category list link Tool_Logic and looking at the status bar at the bottom of screen I see that product=Tool_Logic is there. Also after clicking the link and letting the page load, the address bar shows product=Tool_Logic. But if you now hold the mouse cursor over the display link just prior to getting the error message I see in the status bar that "product=Tool Logic" the underscore _ is missing. I assume that this is the cause of my error. Is there a simple fix or do I have to hard code my category listing?

I look forward to your reply

Mike

Post RE: I think I've found a serious error in my web site??
hell-o
this is odd indeed. it could be the keywords switch in there causeing a mis configuration. open the search4 ppinc and remove the keywords thingie.
please post the search4 ppinc if that doesn't help.
regards,
dan

Post Hi. Just tried that.
Hi I just tried that and no change.
I think that I have posted this question in the wrong forum by mistake. There was another forum that discussed the underscore problem. Which makes me believe that this is the cause of the problem. From what I have read, the script is stripping the underscore out of the words.

I have pasted below the page "productPage-search4.inc" you asked for, but I think the problem is with the script stripping the underscore???

I have also set up the site to search products on multiple categories. In each product description there are <-- --> tags that have searchable codes. example the tool logic products have <!-- category-Tool_Logic --> <!-- category-Torches --> <!-- category-Survival -->

I have also tried removing the underscore from the first <-- --> with no success??

????

What can I try next other than doing some major mods to this site?

Thanks
Mike

Post I think I fixed it.
I think I fixed it.

I changed the following in the two search files 4 and 5
from this: &product=%%product%%
To this: &p=%%CategoryID%%

It seems to have corrected the problem.
I don't know why I had them different?
I just hope I have'nt created another problem??

Thanks for all your help

Mike
