Post Can't login to the store manager, existing sites
So I've got two sites where I can no longer log in to the store manager. Still have FTP access. Wondering if there's a way to recover or reset my password using any of the files from the store's protected folder.

Post Yikes, I had the password okay, both sites still no login
Thanks for the advice on the location/name of that file.

I had the user/passwords right on both accounts, still no store manager access (login dialog doesn't accept name/password). I thought it might be a problem with IE but NN has the same issue. I deleted cookies, no effect. I don't know if it should matter but the host is Fatcow. Any additional thoughts appreciated.

check your file permissions on the store/protected/manager.cgi file
be sure you're accessing the store manager with www in the url.

Do you have .htaccess on it? If so, you might want to go in through FTP or your file manager and delete that .htaccess file in the protected directory.

HTH!

Post Thanks that did the trick
Ok, it was .htaccess problem. Didn't know I couldn't see that file through CuteFTP utility but that I had to go through the sites control panel file manager. Thx for the help!

I don't think that upgrading is the answer, but....
If you have made any edits to the files, they may get rewritten with the upgrade. So, backup any edited files so they can be restored after the upgrade.
Look at the manager.cgi file and see what version of the cart you have. It should say it at the top of the file.

HTH!
