Shipping Cost Discrepancies

Post Shipping Cost Discrepancies 
I have set up the shipping parameters according to all the details I have read on this site and what makes sense. When I select UPS shipping for an order, Agora provides a shipping cost. The problem is that the amount differs from the cost I get when I go to www.ups.com and have UPS calculate the cost. How can I get Agora to calculate a shipping cost that is commensurate with that provided by UPS? Currently the Agora rates are lower than UPS so I can likely lose money on each order.

Did you make sure to set the origination zip code in the Shipping Settings of the manager?

Hi Bonnie. Yes, I set the origination zip code. It seems Agora calculates the shipping cost on its own instead of going to a UPS API via the net. Hmmm ... If it does, perhaps it has a pricing table of its own somewhere. Any thoughts on that?

For other shipping options, I have applied for USPS API access to get USPS (i.e. snail mail) shipping cost and will try that soon to see if it is consistently priced.

No, AgoraCart does not use its own. It uses UPS' online API.
There is also the issue of wheter or not it is broken down into multiple shipments based on the maximum weight per box that is set.
Also, are you matching residential to residential and commercial to commercial.
I eliminated the commercial shipping option altogether since I had way too many people cheating me and saying it was shipping to a commercial address when it was actually going to a residence. Residential delivery is a higher cost than commercial...

The order is a single shipment. Reasonable weight of a few pounds not over the max weight that we configure in Agora. As for commercial vs residential, I dunno how to specify that in Agora. Is there an option for that?

On the order form there is the shipping method selection. That is where it gets specified what shipping method is chosen by the customer.
You can customize which methods you offer by editing the selections in the Payment Gateway area of the manager.
My guess is you're seeing a difference because one got calculated as residential and the other was commercial.

Hmm OK ... I know the SHIPPING METHOD field and select UPS Ground. I am unaware of a commensurate setting for my store as the shipper. Also, I cannot seem to edit the methods offered in the PAYMENT GATEWAY area. I use Linkpoint and there are no options to configure the shipping methods in the Linkpoint HTML settings screen. Any other thoughts?

Okay, Linkpoint doesn't have those options in the Payment gateway settings... shipping methods are all being handled by the order form. The UPS ground option on the form is the residential option.
What is the URL to your store? What is the origination zip code?
I'd like to check this out on your site to see if I can see what is happening.

Yep ... Seems my misinterpretation of the results was because of a discrepancy between the UPS pickup method I configured in Agora vs the method I selected on the UPS site. This resulted in pricing variations that I misinterpreted as its not working.

USPS worked right out of the starting gate since there are fewer options to mess up!
