per item comments display in cart?

Hi,
New to carts, and agora, wondering how difficult it would be to do this...
I have a client who has products with options. Some of the options are 'constrained', that is, I can make a list of the options and use the standard options file to display these/attach them to the item.

But client has a number of products where there are large numbers of options and she wants ability for customer to enter a text comment attached to a particular item describing the customer's desired option. We are using offline processing, so it is not necessary to nail down price exactly for the initial transaction...client wants to receive order with text describing what the customer wants, then will confirm via email before completing order.

I'm thinking a fallback would be to have customer enter all text comments in the 'special notes' text box during checkout, but would be much slicker if I could somehow attach a text comment to individual items from a text input on the product display page.

Any ideas how I can do this?

I use text input boxes in my option file to get things such as names for personalization and notes to go on gift cards. You can do the same thing within your own option file.

I have a question regarding your use of the option files.

I like what youve done, but I would also like to add a text area to the mix.

A text area allows the orderer to see more of what they type but I cannot get the info to appear in the cart contents.

Another question is how do you get your options information to appear as a vertical list on your site? I would love to use a similar format.
