Post Field sizes
I'm looking for details on the field sizes of the database.

From reading on this board it appears that the USER fields are limited to 128 digits. Is this correct? Can it be altered easily or will I need to learn perl to do that?

I'm also interested in exactly which file holds the database. I know it is a pipe delimited flat text file just don't know where to start looking for it.

I'm building a store and the products have lots of sub-attributes people might want to search on. I was going to use USER2 for this and while I can get away with 2 letter code I'd rather use ASCII words. Just checking the field size before I run off the end of it Smile

Thanks in advance

john

hell-o
the store/protected folder contains the files that regulate the values of the input boxes in the store manager. in many cases there are two places to change each box while in some cases there is only one.
most people just enter the data directly into the dB. however, this is not a good idea without first correcting the field lenths.
regards,
dan

Hi Dan

Thanks for the warning, if I decide to try this I'll keep in mind that there might be two places to alter the field sizes.

Regards

john
