changing quantities in checkout process

Post changing quantities in checkout process 
I know that shoppers can edit item quantities or remove items from the "view cart" screen, but is there a way to allow shoppers to change quantities or remove items once they are in the checkout process?

No, they would have to return to the "View Cart" screen to do any editing of the cart contents.

Well how about this then... Is there a way, when someone is in the checkout process, to have a message displayed somewhere to remind the person that if he/she wants to change quantities he/she must go back to the "view cart" screen?

Or could we put a message on the "view cart" screen somewhere to remind shoppers that they can't change quantities once they are in the checkout process?

That would be in the payment gateway manager or it can be added directly to the gateway's order form file in the 'html/forms' directory of the store.
