Customize productpage.inc file

Post Customize productpage.inc file
I am trying to customize the productpage.inc files and having some difficulty. I am using the productpage-4a.inc file which displays 4 products across with product id and price. When I change the .inc file to include product name instead of product id, the page then displays one product across. Can someone help me with this?

Thanks
Mike

are you using tokens?
%%product%%
%%name%%
using tokens shouldn't changethe layout, i wouldn't think.
also, use the correct token. there are different tokens
that look similar but are for different applications.
just for the heck of it place some tokens that interest you
in the ppinc and see what the render.

too, are you calling 4a in the link or have you renamed it to productPage.inc?

dan

I am using tokens %%product%%, %%image%%, & %%price%%. I am not calling 4a. I have renamed it to the productpage.inc. Could that be the reason? How would you call the 4a page?

Mike

not sure why it's killing the 4a display. will have to check it out.
to call 4a.inc in the address bar for testing use:

http://www.yourdomain.com/store/agora.cgi?product=CATEGORY&ppinc=4a

to link from within the store use:

<a href="agora.cgi?cart_id=%%cart_id%%&product=CATEGORY&ppinc=4a"> Category Name </a>

if you have renamed the 4a-ppinc then make sure you have a copy in the tempaltes directory.

dan

ok i just checked it.
v4.0k-4b
ppinc 4a unedited
linked from address bar:
agora.cgi?cart_id=&product=PERL&ppinc=4a

edit made to ppinc 4a:
<FONT FACE="ARIAL" SIZE="2">
<!--<b>Product: %%ProductID%%</b>-->
<b>Product: %%name%%</b>
<br>

displays 4 across without error with product name.

i renamed ppinc 4a to productPage.inc and used the agorascript generated category links and the ppinc 4a displayed without error with product names.

unless you edited the ppinc improperly the problem could be in your link to the product.
please post the link you are using to display the category if you haven't found the solution.
regards,
dan

Thanks for all of your help. I figured it out. I had to upload the file using ascii, not auto select.

It works now.

mike

LOL
dislike kinda sorta maybe it when that happens.
you can use auto. you just need to define the files that go in ascii in the options tab (wsftp LE or pro).
go through all the files in the store and add the extensions. all except pics extensions.
also add
.html
.htm
.txt
readme
.doc
.wri
.php
.shtml
there are more but these are most likely to encounter.

dan
