Post EMPTY CART VALUE! -- Store Header
Hi, I am using version 5.2 and have noticed something a bit strange.

If I view my site in Firefox it seems to work ok, however, when I view it using IE I see the following messages at the top of the main page:

EMPTY CART VALUE! -- Store Header
EMPTY CART VALUE! -- Store Footer .

Any idea on what is causing this and how to fix it?

I did a search and found there are a lot of stores with this same problem. My store is http://www.sourgrapesgiftbaskets.com.au/store52/agora.cgi

I am using IE and I am not experiencing what you are...
This is not an issue with a lot of stores...
Is the IE browser you are using an AOL IE or Walmart IE or any other ISP IE browser?
If so that may be the problem... Could be how cookies are handled...
There may be an issue with security/firewalls, as well.

Something else I noticed is that one of the secure URLs set in the manager (Primary/Core settings or Offline Payment Gateway Settings) is incorrect...
I am seeing:
https://secure2.128bitssl.net/~sourgrap//store52/agora.cgi

See the 2 forward slashes just after ~sourgrap ? There should only be 1.

HTH!

Thanks. I have correct the secure URL. I am still getting the EMPTY CART VALUE! -- Store Header problem but only when I use Windows Internet Explorer version 7 on XP. I have deleted cookies and turned off the firewall but the issue still remains
A search on google for the term "EMPTY CART VALUE! -- Store Header" located 30 pages of hits of sites. Here is an example picked at random.

Hi,

I'm not 100% sure, but the google analytics could be throwing something back!

Google analytics has not been tested through Agoracart yet, try removing the analytics >>
Code:
<!-- begin google analytics -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
_uacct = "UA-1031120-1";
urchinTracker();
</script>
<!-- finish google analytics -->

and testing again, if the error goes then that is obviously the problem.

Google analytics also uses a secure page tracking code, whether that is causing a problem also I do not know.

Hope that helps.
Glen.

Personally, I just think it is the IE7 that is really the problem...
The browser is incredibly buggy...

With the analytics code, I would get the code that uses their secure URL and put it in.
I have it in use on one of my client's sites without any incident.
However, I have had another that says that they get the "Empty cart value" thing every so often, and there isn't anything coded incorrectly and is a standard setup... They were using IE7, as well...

Hi,

I'm of a similar opinion, I'm not happy with the way IE7 pro renders either and in one case as Dan would agree it totally cut the bottom of my cart off because of an unclosed <title> tag.

Too buggy and too eager to reject rather than report.

Regards.
Glen.
