(It is not for actual use, just me learning how to install it for my clients)

How do I edit the product price from showing up bright red? I would just like it to be the default color defined in my css.

in the productPage.inc look for the %%price%% token. change the font to what you like. size, color, and other attributes.

Post Change Standard Parameters 
Hi,
I found where the token values are but the instant I change the price to larger text and or bold, the page goes from 2 across items to 1 across.
Infact I havent been able to change any parameters without it having this effect. Is the formula for caluclating dynamic product pages so testy that you look at it and it screws up ??
Please tell me it isn't and why or how because I can;t think of it as being anything BUT testy !

You have probably, accidentally, uploaded the productPage.inc file in binary. This is not uncommon. Make sure that it is uploaded in ASCII.
All files except image files should be uploaded in ASCII. Graphics or compressed (zip, tgz, tar) files should be uploaded in binary.
