Problem with nesting of main and header footer tables
I am trying to figure this out and am a wee bit confoozled...
If I add more than one item with pix the size they are, they fall off the edge and don't nest correctly as you can see by the link. I have tried changing properties to 100% for height and to no avail. I imagine I can add additional tables leaving the tags to close between header and footer, but i am not sure what 'code' has to go within the tables to set the items data and links... did I make any sense? anyway, you'll see right away what I am talking about on the page.
Thx in advance

Something is terribly wrong, here. What ppinc page are you using???
For some reason I am seeing the agorascript in the html, which should *not* be.
What, exactly, have you done in order to display what you have?
Have you edited any of the files? If so which files, and what did you edit?

I saved the original pages and replaced them. This problem happens when I use any other 'option' other than blank. I did edit the table dimension in the store_header.inc initially. I replaced it with the original file and it still happens. I did try reducing my image size, but it still does it. I still haven't seen the place that is referenced in another thread regarding size of images, but saw a thread saying stay lesss than 170 px wide. Thought I'd try it. :?
btw, I used wordpad to edit.

The version I am using is the default one (AgoraCart 4.0K-3 Standard) supplied by my webhost. Should I up date? I do have access to the root and can change it if I want.

the most current version is 4k4b which can be downloaded from the download folder tab above..... also.... which program are you useing to edit your files?? make sure it's not a WYSIWYG editor as they break up the code.... use a plain text or html editor and always upload/download the files in ASCII mode.... images are the only exceptoin.... those should be uploaded/downloaded in Binary mode.....
Best of Luck

I use wordpad for editing.
Should I leave my FTP (WS_FTP Pro) On auto for transfers, or should I manually set it to ascii for all but the graphics?
I have downloaded the new version. Should I use your installer or upload as per the previous question?

In WS_FTP you can set the file extensions to use ASCII by clicking on "options" then on "transfers" and finally, on "ASCII Filenames".
Then set the file extensions that you want to upload using ASCII.

Well, here I go sounding like a total dummy.
I installed the new vers to a test folder in my cgi-bin.
Used the installer.tgz and it successfully extracted all files.
Now, when I first opened the page, the default html page opens but I have no access to the manager. It (in the window for pword) tells me I need a htaccess file. Inotepad, I make and name a blank .htaccess file and ascii it to the folder with manager. Now, when I retry it opens the pword window without error, but obviously I don't have a pword set yet. How? (not as dumberer as are lookinger right now :-/ )
In my default installation the pword was set via a control panel my provider offers that shows a user interface link and an admin user link.
All the links work on the html page as if I were a visitor, but how do I activate the admin stuph?
thx in advance for all your help.

Input a URL something like this:
http://www.yourdomain.com/path_to_new_store_files/protected/manager.cgi
You should always access the manager directly through a URL and not the cpanel/vdeck.

I do that. The problem is that I have no password to get into it.
Initially I get this screen (when using the url to manager.cgi)
then when I make an empty .htaccess file and place it in the protected folder and set the permissions to be writable or not I get:
I'm really starting to feel sto0pid here.....
Maybe I should just overwrite the old files... at least there I could assign and use a password.

I also ran the test script and it uses my id, but adds a 1212 in front of it??
Is that normal?
ID Test Report:
Scripts are running under id: uid=1212(**id-is-correct**) gid=1212(**id-is-correct** ) groups=1212(**id-is-correct** )

Ok, I have it working. Still need to do custom stuph.
Lessons learned:
make sure I'm using ascii to transfer inc files.
Do not save changes in any program that adjusts text formatting.
Save copies of the originals.
Any help/ideas on any other editors for doing the html portions?
I can't seem to get the footer to span 100% of the bottom of the page...
Is there a way to limit the number of items show on the page, ie were I to add 10 items to one category, but only want 3 to a page, thus would end up with 4 pages of 3,3,3, and 1 item. or whatever number....
is that even possible?
I do appreciate all the help.
:D

 re:
hell-o
in the store manager>main agoracart store settings you have a choice of how many items displayed per page. enter whatever you need. in addition you can choose how they're displayed to some extent by choosing one of the productPage.inc files in terms of 1 across two across or 4 across.
regards,
dan

You may want to run through the following tutorial on setting up the basics of the cart. It may expedite things.

Thanks all so much. I will read the other tutorials for sure. The help you've given has helped get me started, now just tryin to work on understanding the whole layout, seems simple, but mistakes will be many I'm sure.
The only other problem I'm having is... (at this time and germaine to this thread)
When I remove the steelgrey.jpg to change color is side bar and footer, the side bar collapses dependent on the width of items contained. When I've checked header.inc it shows that the table properties is to be set at 165px but it doesn't seem to keep it there.... Only applies when I have two wide on items. Goes to normal width when I only have one item wide.
