Post Cart ID is different after Re-installing
Good Afternoon,
Last week I received an error message when trying to log in. I thought I forgot my password. So, I was told to un-instill AgoraCart, then install again. After I installed, I can not access my products that are displayed on my website. I noticed the Cart ID listed on my website is different. How can I access my old cart?

Any assistance will be appreciated.

a link to your agora.cgi file please.
who told you to reinstall because of manager problems? was the public side of your store working but you just couldn't access the manager?
do you have a site backup with your old store?
if you reinstalled over your old store you may have lost your db? don't know. need a link please.

The Cart_id should be different each time a new order is started.
If you uninstalled wothout backing up your store files, you probably deleted your products, too?
I'm curious as to who advised you to uninstall the store.
If anything you would have only needed to reinstall the cart to a new directory. Then transfer your data.file to the new store.
Not uninstall the old store, until the new one was working...

HTH!

The web hosting company moved to a new server. After the move, I was unable to log-in to the store. I was receiving a Warning message. So, I asked the hosting company, because I thought I was using the wrong user name and password. So, they told me there was no way to reset the password and that I would have to uninstall AgoraCart, then re-install. Now, I can not access the old store.

The link that appears on the website is:
http://www.petalsofparadise.net/shop/agora.cgi

The link that appears in my Cpanel is:
Url: http://petalsofparadise.net/agora/

I was able to find the link to the access the old store. The link is http://petalsofparadise.net/shop/protected/manager.cgi. But the error message appears WARNING No .htaccess file found in the /protected directory. YOU STILL NEED TO PASSWORD PROTECT THAT DIRECTORY.

If this warning is removed, can I assess the old store?

Thank you for your assisatance.

that warning will not prevent you from entering your store's manager. it is a security thingy. you should htaccess your protected directory to help keep unsavory ppl out.
the store is working at least somewhat here:
http://www.petalsofparadise.net/shop/agora.cgi
and the manager is at least displaying the log in screen so all is not lost.
you appear to be trying to access the manager without the www in the url.
this is wrong...
http://petalsofparadise.net/shop/protected/manager.cgi
this is correct...
http://www.petalsofparadise.net/shop/protected/manager.cgi
you need the www for cookies to work properly which is part of the manager's function. no cookies or improper cookies then you will experience problems with either the store or the manager. the manager can be set up to not use cookies but by default they are required and required to be correct.

your new store has a problem in that the store's url is set up wrong or not at all. this url is wrong...
http://petalsofparadise.net/agora/agora.cgi
this url is correct...
http://www.petalsofparadise.net/agora/agora.cgi
if you try to access the store with the www then it resolves to the address without the www. this tells me your store's main url is not set or imporperly set.

personally i would use the old store. it's a good thing it's still there!

I wouldn't worry about that message...
If you FTP into the sever and find the old store, look in the 'protected/misc' directory.
You should be able to find your user/pass combo there...

HTH!

Thank you for your assistance. I was able to access the old store. One more question: At the top of the screen the following message appears:
htaccess protect the /protected directory where this program is running

Should I click on it or ignore?

Until you get the store working all the way through and are ready to go live, you can ignore it.
But, once you go live you can click on the .htaccess link once you log into the manager and set up the .htacess for the manager.
HTH!
