I'm trying to access the store manager for the first time, at http://cgi.mydomain.net/store/protected/manager.cgi (my host requires that all cgi be under a cgi server)

I get a 403 hidden message, telling me I'm not authorised to view. What should manager.cgi be CHMODded to? It's currently set to 755 and the /protected folder to 744.

Help? Sad

The protected directory should be 755.

thanks scottcrew! changing it to 755 got me to view the store manager.

I think I'll be ok from now, but if I have any more troubles I'll just add it to this topic! Thankyou!

(I wasn't giving out the url for security, but I PM it to a mod, unless it's safe to just put here.)

posting a url to your store is safe enough. i mean isn't all of this on the internet?
what is not safe is

posting your manager login info

posting any user name password

not changing your manager login from the default user/pass as soon as you install the store.

not changing your user/pass after having someone trusted help with internal troubleshooting or customization.

poking a bull in the eye with a (short) sharp stick!

posting a link to any public accessable area on your site here is safer than google indexing your site and displaying it to the world.

sounds good!
Anyway, the site I'm building the shopping cart for is my mum's business. Her domain is at www.pearlsilks.net, though the server we must have anything cgi on is http://cgi.pearlsilks.net.
Anyway, things are running reasonably smoothly so far, I'm learning my way through all this and it's nice to be able to finally give mum an easier way for people to buy things via her site!

nice looking site. when you get everything inplace post for a critque. there maybe some issues that you may not be aware of. i see a few already.
