Post Problems if agora installed between html frames
Hi everybody

Firs I would like to apology for my bad english. Now, my problem begin when I placed agora between uper and left frame of my page. That way (i tought soo) sout me bether cose all links stayed hidden and I didnt have to bother much with store header inc file look, all I nead to do was left the codes alone. But the problem is that cookies stys the same for evry visitor. If I put some products in to the basket end if I live them in the basket, then eny visitor after me can see exectly the same products in the basket as I placed them. Can any one help me to corect the mistake, and steal using frames?

Thanks!

Can you post the URL to your store so we can look? First thing I would suggest though is to make sure that you are not hard coding the cart id. That one seems to get a bunch of people when they setup their store.

Post My URL link
My url Link to my SHOP is http://www.erotica2003.com/index1.htm
and then click (on the top of the left side) link called "iz zaloge" that is in Slovenian language.
The same store works just fine if it is not placed between frames ther fore I thing I did not hard code the cart id, but who knows my be I did. Im not an expert of PERL ther fore it is possible that I made a mistake but as I said, it works fine if no frames are involved.

Thanks for your help Supercarol.

I'm not going to be able to help any further on this one. I have little kids around when I work and a porn site is not something that I want them to see. Maybe someone else that won't be bothered by the content can take a look. I'm sorry.

Frames won't work properly with the cart. You will need to use tables for the layout. Here is a link to an excellent tutorial on page setup..

Carol,

I won't work on them regardless of who's around.

but in response to those wishing to use frames:

Resist the desire to use them. Maintianing state is difficult at best. In addition, secure checkout locks will not be seen in a visitor's browser despite SSL mode being used - unless you run the store entirely in SSL mode which is not an appropriate solution.

Post More Frame Issues
This is the URL to my store if you want to see the problems i'm having for yourself:

http://www.trpartners.co.uk/design.htm

I think it's an example of the same thing that dimmo was describing (although entirely non-pornographic!).

I am running Agora in an iframe which is the main body of the page. The shopping basket works fine on my pc, but only on my pc - everyone else's baskets seem to delete their contents every time something new is added.

My Question: Is there any way that Agora can be made to run properly with frames?

With regard to the checkout, I plan for the checkout to open in a new window when the link to it is clicked (not set up yet), so that it will be obvious that it's secure.

I guess i could fiddle with my site to make it a table not a frame, but that limits some of its functionality, and will require a lot of hassle =S

Cheers for your help,

Dai[/url]

I've been trawling through the forum history and although this problem has come up several times before there doesnt seem to be any solution to it.

Guess its back to the drawing board with my webby design. =S

The following re-post of a post by Mister Ed may help you understand the problem
Quote:
the cart will have to be the main frame to maintain state.

Frames are a bad idear for ecommerce. so if you are going to use them, you will need to link in such a way that the store becomes the main frame site when you start doing cart operations. only down side will be when you need SSL... it will not show a lock if using frames... which means it needs to run in SSL for frames... making your site very very slow and harder to design as everythng needs to be secure (images, etc).
