Can I Use A Mail Transport Agent Other Than Sendmail ???

Does Agora Cart support any MTA's other than Sendmail? I would prefer to use
Postfix if at all possible. I would rather not uninstall Postfix, install sendmail, and
then learn how to setup and secure Sendmail before I can get my shopping cart
working properly.

??? Question ???

The server should have a normal way of sendmail type of setup already built in...
The script does have ways of handling things dynamically for most server setups and you should not need to change anything...
Who is your webhost?

I am my own host, running Apache on Linux. I have steered away from
Sendmail because of its history of complexity, making securing it properly
a serious issue, for some one who doesn't work with sendmail daily. My distro,
along with some others, are starting to send postfix built in as their default MTA.
This may be because of its ease to configure and secure, and may be because most people
don't need all the power and granularity sendmail offers. IMO those that do, aren't running
a standard distro, and compile in their required specs at build time. I know this will be
a non issue for those sites I have hosted else where, but for those I host locally, I am
hoping there may be an easy solution offering a bit of flexibility re-guarding MTA's.

I would say to try it with your configuration and see if it will work...

There are different "options" that are coded into Agora's "sendmail" stuff to find the most likely place for things. It also, has the sendmail perl module included with the distribution.

Just try it and see what happens...

I took your advice, set up a cart, tried it out. It works beautifully with Postfix. A real non-issue.
I have been exploring open source cart solutions for a while, and really do like the features
offered by Agoracart. I do appreciate how quickly you were able to help me with my questions,
during this is a holiday weekend. That is stellar support especially for any thing labeled
free. I do believe I have adopted a shopping cart system, and look forward to pro membership.

Glad to hear that it is all working fine.
Yeah, I'm on just about every day, mainly on "SPAM watch"... stuff can be pretty raunchy...
So, when there's a question I like to get it out of the way as quickly as possible...

The cart is really good. I started out with its original predecessor, Selena Sol's Webstore...
I've seen it go through a lot of evolution. The jump from v4 to v5 was HUGE. Another version will be coming soon and has even better improvements. More stuff is handled from the manager, so less messing with the core files.

Have fun with the cart!!!
