Post /cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi
I installed my store thru CPanel at ...../store/agora.cgi. A lot of the instructions refer to the store being found at /cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi

Before I get too much further into setting it up, I thought I'd check if it matters one way or the other whether it is under the cgi-bin folder?

Many thanks

The cart does not need to be in the cgi-bin directory.

Post RE: /cgi-bin/store/agora.cgi
hell-o
there are some security measures applied to the cgi-bin. the cgi-bin is not just a folder. it is created with a particular set of rules designed by configuration to run scripts more sercurely.
if your server allows scripts to be run outside of the cgi-bin then you may run your store outside. not all servers allow this though.
so, the choice is yours.
there are some things to consider when running a store inside the cgi-bin but agoracart has those things covered. such as images and html which are not allowed normally in the cgi-bin. agoracart uses the "picserve" and "secpicserve" for use in the cgi-bin. "cartlink" and "page" covers the display of html files in the cgi-bin. by using these methods you can display images and html from within the store to reference information and keep the client within the store to make tracking more reliable and predictable.

dan

Thanks Dan,

I've seen other shops running within cgi-bin and have suspected it was security related, but as cPanel didn't suggest the store should be set up under it, I set it up under "store".

It's easy enough to change, and it seems I could only be better of if I do, so thanks for the advice.
