Flat Rate Shipping Not Working

Hello,

We have a small problem. There are some items which we ship for one flat fee.

What we did was setup a handling fee under shipping and then a zero cost for shipping on the item.

This worked fine.

Until we updated the prices and database (via csv upload)

Now on those items with zero cost to ship, it does not add in the flat fee. If I just change the shipping cost to .01, it does add in the flat fee, plus the .01/item. But we tell people it's a flat fee for those items no matter how many they seleect.

And it did work. But it does not now. I've tried setting the cost to 0.00 but it does not help.

Any ideas?

we are using an old system. 4.0k-4b.

Well, it looks like you have to fix your database...
If that was what threw things off, you'll need to fix the database.
Evidently, stuff may have been added to the database that shouldn't be there.
What is the URL to your store?

BTW, v4.x is not really being supported as it is very outdated and can pose a security risk to customer's data.

How do you "fix the database?"

That I can tell, everything else is correct. all we did was import the csv file, update the prices, save and import.

we'd like to upgrade but tried 3 years ago and it totally corrupted the data. So we went back to the old system.

The upgrade has to be done manually, there is no upgrader.
Which kinda means, do a clean install of v5.2, set it all up in it's default state to ensure it is working.
Then, you can upload your database to the new store and your product image files.
From there you will need to compare new agorascript that has been added to v5.2 template files to adjust your v4.x template accordingly.
There are AgoraCart specialists that do upgrades, if it seems too much for the webmaster to do.
The upgrader was never a good option and v5.0 was pretty buggy.
Current version is v5.2 and is very stable.

You need to check the database that everything is in the correct format.
That means opening it in a plain text editor and manually reviewing it...
More than likely there are extra quote marks where there shouldn't be because excel puts in the quote marks as text qualifiers and it messes with the database data...

I doubt we'll go thru all that. We have an entirely new shopping cart built from the ground up to replace it in the next few months.
