Post Installing Agora with IPowerWeb
Hello,

IPowerWeb web hosting supports Agora, but they never install the Agora cart into PUBLIC_HTML.

They do it in two ways:

In CPanel it is installed under /PUBLIC_HTML/<DIR_NAME>
In VDECK it is under / home / .panel / web / ecommerce / ac.
Therefore, it is not even under /PUBLIC_HTML/.

On one of the agora forums, I was told that it is essential for the Agora cart to be installed IN /PUBLIC_HTML directory; otherwise the search engines are not indexing the website.
I spoke to IPowerWeb support, but they claimed that this is how it should be installed.
So, the old good question is who is correct, and what to do?

Thank you

Post RE: Installing Agora with IPowerWeb
hell-o
some background concerning this post...

the original issue is the redirect off the home page thereby making agoracart the only content of the domain. the result of this implimentation being poor return placement by search engines.

this domain name is here:

http://bestjewelryexchange.com

redirecting to the store here:

http://bestjewelryexchange.com/cart/agora.cgi

apparently there are no ill effects to the store function from the store being installed on this ipower machine at this location. the only issue maybe the path to ssl may not resolve to this location. otherwise the store seems to be working fine.

i think this assumption is inaccurate. there are so many influences involved in how a website is indexed that a general statement like that is inherently incorrect. btw, had that statement been true then you would not be affected because of the location of your store.
when referring to installing in the public_html directory it is understood that the store folder is located there. so the path to agora.cgi would be:

public_html/store/agora.cgi

and not

public_html/agora.cgi

ipower is correct. but their staement has nothing to do with search engines. they are saying essentially that wherever their server configs say you can install executable scripts then that is where you install them.

it is absolutely necessary that the understanding is, agoracart is not a content manager. it is a shoppingcart. it is intended to be a feature of a website...not the website.

regards,
dan
