Hello,

Whenever I add a product to a category, it is placed at the end of the list of products. If I have 50 products in a category, and I add a new one, it will be number 51 in the list and will be on the last page. What if I would like this particular product to be the first product listed in this category? Is there any way to do that? Thanks for any help.

Products are sorted by their product ID. The lowest numbered product will display first.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I know products are sorted by product id in ascending order. I was just wondering if there was any way to override that. So what you're telling me is that if I have one category for example, and I have 50 items in that category, numbered 0001 - 0050, that if I add a 51st item, it MUST be displayed last on the page? Seems very restrictive. Can I get around it by renumbering product id# 0001 to # 0051 and then creating the 51st item and setting it's product id to 0001? Is that possible? I'm pretty sure I can set the product id when I create a product, but can I change the product id of an already existing product? Thanks.

Hi Bonnie,

I think I found a way around this. I had a number of products on a page, numbered 0010 through 0020. I wanted to add a product to the page, but have it be the first in the list. When I created the product, I set the product id to 0009.9. It accepted this, and inserted this product as first in the list. Everything seems to work fine. Can you let me know if you see any reason not to do this? Thanks.
