Change "State" to "Country" Part II
I know there's another string of posts on a similar topic, but I'm still confused on this one.
1) What file do I edit to remove all shipping options from the customer's drop down menu except for USPS?
2) What file do I edit to replace the two-letter state abbreviations the customer is shown with region names (like "USA", "Asia", "Europe", etc)
3) Also, did we ever figure out exactly where/when to sub in "Ecom_ShipTo_Postal_CountryCode" in order to get these types of changes to work?
My goal is to allow users to select what region they live in, and then shipping costs will be based on that. Any help I can get will be greatly appreciated.
Jason.

That would be in the Payment Gateway area of the manager. This may be different based on which gateway you are using. Which gateway are you using?

This would be edited in the <gateway>orderform.html file found in the 'html/forms' directory of the store.

What types of changes are you talking about in conjunction with the "Ecom_ShipTo_Postal_CountryCode" field??

becareful how you do this if you need to charge taxes. you must define the state for tax purposes. you could rename the entry form STATE to STATE/COUNTRY. however, depending on the gateway you maybe in conflict with the merchant service's form definitions which you can't change.
which gateway are you using?

I'm using the AgoraPay gateway. I would only be charging tax for CA residents, so what if I leave "CA" in the list? My ultimate goal here is to charge different shipping rates for someone ordering from China as opposed to someone ordering from San Diego (I live in LA). When the customer selects that they live in Europe or Asia, I want the program to charge them the according shipping cost.
FROM SCOTTCREW>>What types of changes are you talking about in >>conjunction with the "Ecom_ShipTo_Postal_CountryCode" field??
I thought someone else had advised making changes with these fields on another post but maybe I had been mistaken. What exactly the changes are I'm not sure.
Thanks for the help so far,
Jason.

There is an international shipping workaround based on country that is available to lifetime pro members.
You do not want to change the state field, you will want to keep it.
To charge for someone in another country, you need the country field and the pro workaround, depending on how you want to charge for shipping to another country.
The USPS SBW module only works with shipments within the US.

 Custom Shipping Logic
In the Custom Shipping Logic space of the Shipping Settings page, I have it worked out so the first item people order charges them $3, and each additional item charges $1. Is there anyway to add "if/then" controls so that it will take the value of the state/province variable from the AgoraPay-orderform.html (where people select what region they live in) and charge the customer a specific shipping cost that way?

Jason,
Yes, there is. If you are a pro member, you can access shipping options like this in the Pro Forum.

LOL. it aint that bad. i know all the stuff people have to sign up for and pay for on the net and i personally feel the same way about resisting to have to sign up and pay for "another one".
lifetime membership is cheap. a real time and headache saver. when you think of your time trying to do the hacks already done and the ideas and stuff available to to display and control your products on the web in a more customized manner. if you had someone script some of the hacks avaliable in the liftime membership program it would cost you 10 times the membership fee.
i'm so broke i can't pay attention but i found a way years ago to join and i'm happy i did.
so feel good about your membership. though everyone on the net seems to want money or membership there are those that are a necessity and will save you time and money in the long run. this is one of those.
regards,
dan
